Around the Savannah, Port of Spain

by kaowinston @ 2008-04-26 - 21:35:26

If you ever make it to Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, here is a walk I recommend.   Come by car or by taxi avoiding the downtown area, and heading straight to the savannah area.  Get off at Archbishop's House.  That is the perfect place to start your stroll, walking clockwise around the Savannah, taking  in all the buildings and the beautiful trees.

I suggest you leave the Botanical Garden and the Zoo, for another day.  That can be done in a relaxing afternoon when you want to get away from all the crowds, and the downtown bustle.

Be sure to take your camera.  I did, and was able to capture some of the best moments.  Check out the photos below.

Paris has a new museum, and it is dedicated to the art of Africa, Oceania and Pre-Columbian America.  It is definitely worth taking a trip to the city to see.  The combination of excellent architecture, and imaginable staging, certainly made this a winner.

I arrived expecting easy access. But I was wrong for there were crowds everywhere.  Yet it was rather entertaining.  I spent almost four hours there. First a slow walk, and very close scrutiny of the permanent exhibition. Then, a quicker paced stroll through the temporary exhibition.  The photos should give a hint what to expect. Please plan your visit.
